We thought we'd incorporate the fairer sex into our summer buys for this top 10

Onto the girls list now and unsurprisingly this wasn’t too difficult a list to fill up, omitting cars seemed to be hard though but in the end these are our top 5 girls buys for the summer.

GUYS LIST HERE

Audi TT Roadster

TT

For under R500k you can pick up a new TT with a choice of auto or manual gearboxes with enough power to overtake traffic whilst still making sure you get noticed as you do so. The ride is good in the TT to, comfortable and predictable but if you want more power and a bit more badge awe then go for the TTS, just watch out for the big injection of boost that surprises you every time.

Fiat 500C

500C

The 500C definitely fits this description accurately, eye catching, funky and retro. Don’t think that it’s all about show, this little Italian has quite a bit of pep in it’s step, the same 100hp motor from the Panda 100hp just with a slightly softer ride, the 500C is mosquito sharp in the bends as well.

Mercedes-Benz SL

SL

Having driven most of the country several times I have picked up that in certain areas these cars are particularly popular. High profile businesswomen seem to adore them as well as moms picking up the lone child from Crawford after soccer practice or private violin lessons. Still, you get a comfy V8 up front or a thirsty V12 depending on whether fuel matters to you at all and this big Merc certainly attracts attention.

Mini Convertible

Mini Cab

Predictably this was always going to make the list and we didn’t want to disappoint. Mini convertibles are the ultimate fashion accessories, complete now with paint jobs in all sorts of funky colours and stripes you can add on as well. It’s very economic and you can get it in JCW format if your name happens to be Sabine Shmitz or Danica Patrick.

Peugeot 308 CC

308CC

This list wouldn’t be complete without a French cabriolet and this is just about the only one left that you can buy new. The Megane CC is replaced soon so the gap in that market is left to its French compatriot Peugeot to pick up. The 308 CC is stylish and pleasant, not sprightly or dynamic but easy to live with and worthy of a drive through the likes of Balito or Camps bay.
